Information on enrollment for transfer students
This is information on enrollment at the Catholic University of Pusan

Type

General transfer admission
  • Eligible applicants: A person who has graduated from a community college or completed at least a two-year program at a four-year university, or equivalent
  • Selection is made only if there are vacancies (dropout, disenrollment, etc.) in the third year. Where there is a vacancy depends on each department, and its quota is determined every early December.
  • You will transfer to the third year and may apply for any department regardless of your major in your former university.
  • If you transfer to the third year of the Department of Nursing, you will start with the second-year program due to its special curriculum.
Post-graduation transfer admission
  • Eligible applicants: A person who has graduated from a four-year university or equivalent
  • Select a maximum of 4% of the annual admissions quota for each department.
  • The Department of Nursing selects a maximum of 10% of annual admissions quota.
  • You will transfer to the third year and may apply for any department regardless of your major in your former university.
  • If you transfer to the third year of the Department of Nursing, you will start with the second-year course due to its special curriculum.
Medical/Health professionals transfer admission
  • Eligible applicants: A person who has graduated from the same department at the three-year college
  • This admission aims for the continuous education of medical and health professionals who have graduated from a community college.
  • Select a maximum of 10% of annual admissions quota for each department.
  • Departments: Nursing, Clinical Pathology, Physical Therapy, Radiology, and Dental Technology
  • Please note that if you transfer to a four-year program, it is highly difficult to have a job and do schoolwork at the same time, as the program has day courses.

Type Qualifications
General
    A person who falls under any of the following:
  • A person who has completed at least a two-year program or four semesters (summer/winter semesters excluded) and obtained 68 credits or more at a domestic or overseas four-year university (broadcasting universities, communications universities, open universities, cyber universities, and industrial universities included)
  • Completes at least two-year program or four semesters (summer/winter semesters excluded) and obtains 68 credits or more in the department of nursing at a four-year community college designated by the Ministry of Education

    ※ Applicable Department of Nursing at a four-year community college ⇒ See the CUP website. Note: A major advanced course at a community college is not applicable.

  • Graduated or expects to graduate in February 2016 from a domestic or overseas community college, or equivalent, according to the relevant regulations
  • Earns or expects to earn a bachelor’s degree in February 2016 in accordance with the Act on the Acquisition of Academic Degrees Through Self-education
  • Earns or expects to earn a bachelor’s degree or higher in accordance with the Act on Recognition of Credits, etc. or Lifelong Education Act
  • Completes at least a two-year program and obtains 68 credits or more at a four-year college/university designated by the Minister of Education with an educational level recognized for higher education
  • A person recognized as the same as above in accordance with the Higher Education Act
Agricultural/Fishery High School (extra quota) A person who is qualified for general transfer admission and was accepted to his/her previous university through agricultural/fishery high school admission (extra admission quota)
Specialized High School (extra quota) A person who is qualified for general transfer admission and was accepted to his/her previous university through specialized high school admission (extra admission quota)
North Korean defectors A person who is qualified for general transfer admission and was accepted to his/her previous university through a foreign national Korean or North Korean defectors admission under the international students admission
    North Korean defectors prescribed in Subparagraph 6, Paragraph 2, Article 29 of the Enforcement Decree of the Higher Education Act
  • North Korean defectors who are deemed to have completed an equivalent of at least Korean 12-year education program through assessment of the Academic Level Assessment Committee by the superintendent in accordance with Enforcement Decree of the Primary and Secondary Education Act.
  • A person may apply regardless of college/department at his/her former university
  • CUP students (current students and those on leave) are not allowed to apply but expectant graduates for February 2016 are allowed.
  • ※ You will transfer to the third year of the department of nursing, but start with the second-year program; thus, it may take three years to graduate.
Post-graduation transfer admission (third year, day courses)

A person who has graduated or expects to graduate from a domestic or overseas four-year regular university and falls under any of the following:

  • A person who has graduated or expects to graduate from a four-year regular university, broadcasting university, communications university, open university, cyber university, or industrial university in February 2016
  • A person who has obtained or expects to obtain a bachelor’s degree in February 2016 in accordance with the Act on Recognition of Credits, etc. or Act on the Acquisition of Academic Degrees Through Self-education
  • A person who is deemed to have completed an equivalent or higher of the afore-mentioned education in accordance with the Higher Education Act
  • A person may apply regardless of college/department at his/her former university. However, it may take three years to graduate since he/she will start with the second-year program despite transferring in the third year, due to the characteristics of the nursing department.
  • A CUP student who expects to graduate in February 2016 may apply.
Medical/Health professionals transfer admission (fourth year, day courses)

A person who has graduated or expects to graduate from a local three-year community college and falls under any of the following:

  • Nursing: A person who has graduated or expects to graduate from the department of nursing at a three-year community college in February 2016 and has obtained or expects to obtain a nursing license.
  • If a person who expects to graduate in February 2016 fails to acquire a nursing license, admission will be canceled.
  • Clinical Pathology, Physical Therapy, Radiology, and Dental Technology: A person who has graduated or expects to graduate in February 2016 from the same department at a three-year community college.
  • A person who has completed or expects to complete a three-year program in the department of nursing at a community college designated as a bachelor’s degree program (four-year) is not allowed to apply, but if he/she was accepted before a bachelor’s degree program (four-year) and has graduated or expects to graduate he/she may apply.
