Curriculum description

The Korean Language training program at Catholic University of Pusan aims focuses on aspiring international students who intend to go to a Korean undergraduate or graduate school to learn the Korean language enough to pursue a university-level education, and for foreign nationals who need to speak Korean for their businesses or to get a job, or for foreign national Koreans who wish to take a systematic Korean language program.

Korean Language Course: In operation year-round
  • Course: Six-step Korean Language Training Course (Levels 1 through 6)

Level Eligibility Course description
Level 1 If you are a graduate of high school or above and have not learned the Korean language before. You learn Hangul (Korean characters), pronunciation, simple vocabulary and grammar to speak basic Korean for survival, and understand and talk about a personal and familiar subject.
Level 2 If you have learned the Korean language for at least 200 hours or have a TOPIK Level 1. You can speak basic Korean for everyday life and have a simple conversation needed for use of public facilities such as a bank, post office, or hospital.
Level 3 If you have learned the Korean language for at least 400 hours or have a TOPIK Level 2. You can speak basic Korean for use of public facilities, social life, and social relationships and distinguish between written and colloquial language. You can write an essay in a paragraph unit about current affairs and even understand it to some degree.
Level 4 If you have learned the Korean language for at least 600 hours or have a TOPIK Level 3. You can speak basic Korean for use of public facilities, social relationships, and general business practices. You can understand social and abstract subjects relatively precisely and speak fluent Korean using idiomatic phrases.
Level 5 If you have learned the Korean language for at least 800 hours or have a TOPIK Level 4. You can speak a basic level of Korean in the research of professional areas or in business and understand/use the language even in an unfamiliar field and choose appropriate terms depending on formal/casual situations and colloquial/written contexts.
Level 6 If you have learned the Korean language for at least 1,000 hours or have a TOPIK Level 5. You can use relatively precise and fluent Korean language in the research of professional areas or in business.
